Development starts

Right, today marks the day that I start some actual, official development on Pux. In general, it is an incarnation of a game concept that has been rattling in the back of my head since 2000 or so, but it is also an exercise in going through proper process for once, and working with a (somewhat) finished engine. The engine is the heavily restructured BlackEngine, and Pux will also be the fender that irons out the last quirks in it.

Tonight, I've holed up with a barrel of tea, a crate of cookies, a day rythm far out of whack and an explicit goal of getting at least a couple of pages of the design bible down pat. I have other developments running at code level at the moment that need to be finished, but I've given myself a week or so for the creative base phase. I'm modelling the design bible loosely on the Claw DB, but I plan to keep it a lot more to the point and a lot shorter.

Well, I'm rarely as effective as I plan to be, but I've got a nice one-page overview and guiding vision, that can also be used to sell the game idea to a potential publisher.
